Happy Hostess House offers you instruction in cake decorating and candy making both for fun as well as a profitable hobby. The three levels of cake decorating we offer are:
Beginner’s Course: In this course we start with the basics; The necessary equipment you will need and the recipes for the different icings. You will be shown the professional way to ice a cake with instructions on the borders and flowers. You will learn drop flowers, daisy, violet, rose, mums, basket weave, stems, leaves, writing and much more!
Intermediate Course: This course is for those who are interested in going on in cake decorating. We will review the rose and do lattice work, novelty cakes such as, the bikini, a doll cake, baby sweater, cap and booties. The last cake of this course will be a two tier wedding cake.
Advanced Course: The advanced student will go on to learn the special cake decorating skills. The use of royal icing, coronelli, rolled fondant work and color flow. We will be making those luscious French pastries and petit-fours. The last cake will be a three tier wedding cake.
The cost for each five week course is $30.00 PLUS the cost of your supplies.

All demos and classes are from 7:00 pm. to 9:00 pm. with doors opening at 6:45. There is no sign up for the demos and seating is limited. After seats are filled it is standing room only. Sign up is required for the marzipan and gingerbread classes. Payment is due at the time of sign up. If you have any questions please feel free to call the shop. We're proud to offer a new course at The Happy Hostess House! In this five week course you will learn how to cover a cake with fondant, do a fondant border, a fondant overlay, sculpting with crispy rice cereal, a fondant rose, a gum paste Callalily, a gum paste rose and gum paste stephanotis. The cost for this course is $50.00 plus supplies. This is a beginner’s gum paste fondant class and it is recommended that a beginner’s buttercream course is taken before starting this course. We are currently working on the curriculum for an intermediate and advanced course as well!
